The Cato Institute just released a new Policy Analysis, “Content Creators, Entrepreneurial Users, and the Impact of Tech Policy,” highlighting how proposed tech regulations—often aimed at “Big Tech”—would impact millions of content creators and entrepreneurs who have leveraged a range of platforms to create communities and businesses.
Author Jennifer Huddleston argues that we should recognize these uses for the entrepreneurship they are and recognize that changes to antitrust laws, Section 230, and data privacy could raise costs, limit platform functionality, restrict opportunities for these entrepreneurial users, and diminish their opportunities.
If you’d like to speak with Huddleston about her findings, please reach out to mmiller@cato.org.
